Great
Blue Heron Poem
As
I looked up at the blue/gray sky
I saw a bill as bright as the sun
A face as white as the snow
A neck that was like a curvy road
And legs that extended out like pine trees in the forest
Then it dove down
On the lime marshy green grass fields
From here I could see everything
It’s dagger-like bill
And two-Oreo colored lines that crossed its crown
His forehead was streaked with the pattern of a jail suit
It’s marble sized eyes focused on the ground
It was ready to attack
Then it’s bill stabbed right through a mouse
I watched in astonishment
As it reached for the sky

El
Poema del la Garza Ceniza
Mire
Me quede asombrada
Cuando vuelo hacia el cielo

Goose
Knowledgeable
of the blue heaven,
Happy mornings with fabulous song,
You make the sadness disappear,
Beautiful feathers make the sky shine more,
Leaving peace, love around the world and in people’s hearts,
We are thankful for the happiness you bring.

Dark-eyed
Junco
Dark eyed Juncos,
have pale bills
Lots of feathers to fly over mills
Dark eyes
Yellow eyes
Small eyes
Round eyes
Dark eye Juncos, whitish bellies
Can’t eat jellies
Tail is dark
Juncos stand on bark
Feed mostly on the ground
Bellies are round
Bottom of their feathers are white
Can travel at night or in the light
Not afraid of heights
Sometimes walk
Just like hawks.

Los
Carbonero Apizarrados
Los picos palidos
Mucho plumas para volar sobre los molinos
Ojos oscuros
Ojos amarillos
Ojos redondos
Ojos peqenos

Bald
Eagle
Massive head
We don’t want these birds dead
Very large
They like to take charge
Eats mostly fish
Eats birds
Eats some mammals like rabbits
That’s just their habit
Eagles have a piercing scream
I don’t know if eagles can have dreams
These birds are dark
Eagles have Federal Protection

The
Bird of the Night
During the dark night
In the wooded swamps
There's a special tree
Living there, between the leaves,
There's a small and innocent creature.
It's small with short legs and a short neck
It' s plumage its brown
With white spot like the snow,
It's a bird, a bird of the night
It's the Black Night Heron.
He's waiting in his nest, ancious
He's waiting for something to eat,
It might be insects, lizards, fish or worms.
There, it is, a grasshopper
Jumping and singing at a time.
The Heron hear that
Quiet and calm he stays
Little by little he left his nest
Flying and flying after the grasshopper,
Trying to catch him.
He gave up and sad,
He came back to his nest.
To his surprise there was the dinner
Waiting for him.

Pescados o gusanos.
Allí, esta, un chapulín
Cantando y saltando a la vez.
El Pedrete al escuchar
Silencioso se quedo
Poco apoco se alejo de su nido
Volando y volando detrás del chapulín
Tratando de atraparlo.Triste y vencido regreso a su nido
Cual sería la sorpresa que al llegar
Estaba la cena.

Great
Egret
The nature of the divine life.
Like the country and the air
That we breath thanks to everyone, the
Birds and the ocean exist.
Like the creation of the pretty great egret
That was made from nature
He is distinctive for his great colors
And from other egrets
His beautiful yellow bill, that illuminates
Like the sunshine. His legs and
Feet so perfect and black, like the night with
Out stars. That great egret that is flying
With white plumage. And that’s why we know it,
As the great egret.

Garzón
Blanco
A quel garzón blanco

LOGGERHEAD
SHRIKE
See my loggerhead
Shrike,
As its soars threw the sky,
With the black hooked bill
That catches your eye,
To feed their downy, both male
And female rush to their side,
Face black masked body white,
Black, gray color as you see it fly,
Slim tail large head,
Eating small mammals, reptiles, and insects,
Traveling from south central Canada
To south Mexico,
In the endangered species list
They’re starting to go.

The
Proud Ring-billed Gull
The Ring-billed gull has white underpants
Yellow legs and feet including under wings
Big, pale grayish upper wings
Pale eyes with red orbital ring
Yellow bill with black sub terminal band
Nesting is not too long it just includes 21
The young stay around the nest for 35
And they are fed by both of us
We feed them with insects, fish, grain and rodents
Active in gathering food, stealing food from other birds
Sometimes also go for a swim in the lake
After all my high-pitched repeated hiyak, hiyak is my Pride!
