Methods for Transects

-Stretch out 200 ft string and record all trees, shrubs, nurse logs, and snags within 5 ft of the string.
-The shrubs are counted only if they reach a height above the knee.
-The diameter of a tree is taken at breast height.
-A nurse log is counted only if the width is greater than the forearm.

Methods for Foot of Earths

-Lay out string so that it stretches in a circular/rectangular shape that is a foot of earth.
-Draw/label/identify every organism in the area that you did not see or know of before.
