Antiquities CelebrationOn National Public Lands Day, September 30, 2006, Cañon City, Colorado celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the Antiquities Act of 1906-a measure that protects and preserves archaeological and historic properties. The focus of this celebration was a series of free activities to honor Marshall P. Felch and the dinosaur fossils he uncovered in the 1880's. Volunteers were present at a series of free stops around Canon City for the public to enjoy. One of the special features of the day was that after a long search, direct decedents of Marshall and Amanda Felch returned to Canon City to help us celebrate!
