Neo-tropical Resting Grounds

Yellow WarblerWedged between the arid landscape of the western Utah and barren grasslands of eastern Utah, Uinta National Forest funnels neo-tropical birds north who seek food, water and refuge Western Bluebirdduring the spring and summer months. Uinta also helps them migrate safely to the tropics during autumn's southerly journey. Each year, waves of over 30 species follow American Goldfinchthe narrow band of forests. Researchers monitor these populations to check-up on the populations' health. They also search for ways to protect habitat here and along their entire flyway—from the jungles of Central America to the forests of Canada. Next
