There are
two types of trees you might see on your trip to the wilderness.
They are classified as Conifer and Decidious.
Conifers are Evergreen trees. They have needles that will
not drop in the fall season. Common Conifer trees include
Fir, Cedar, Spruce, and Hemlock.
Decidious
are trees can be identified by their leaves. They go through
a cycle of dropping leaves in the fall and remaining bare
through the dormant season of winter. When spring arrives,
they begin the cycle of new growth again. There are many
spieces of Decidious trees, but the the most common you
might encounter in the wilderness include Maple, Alder,
and Cottonwood.
An interesting
fact about Cottonwood trees: If you are ever looking for
water on your hike, you can usually dig and find a source
near a Cottonwood tree because they draw water from a sources
that is close to the surface of the ground.
Some plants
you will like to avoid are poison ivy and poison oak. These
will cause irritation on the skin and can be a big pain
