Cooking Alternatives

There are many things people think of when you say cooking alternatives, like ordering pizza or going to a drive-thru, but what is meant here is alternatives to cooking on a camp stove, like no-cook or precooked meals or snacks.
Some examples can be trail-mix, granola bars, or breakfast bars. This means you do not need to spend lengthy amounts of time on starting stoves, getting and boiling water, cooking food, and then cleaning up afterwards; it also means you can eat when you get hungry after a days' hike, not 35 - 50 minutes later. There are also some drawbacks for prepackaged or precooked meals that you buy, they can be heavier than the individual ingredients you can use to make it your self, but you do not need to worry about having enough fuel for cooking every morning and evening, they can also last longer than most things you can cook, and are easier to pack out than multiple ingredients. Another drawback to consider is, that you have to pack out all the wrappers from the food. To find out more about packing out your trash, see Leave No Trace.
